You can fly to Brindisi or Bari airports. There are several low costs companies flying in, together with Alitalia.

Once you arrived at the Bari airport you can take a shuttle that will bring to Bari train station where you can travel to Lecce and from there to Poggiardo (total cost approx. 30 Euro)

Once you arrived at Brindisi airport you can take a bus to Lecce and from there the train to Poggiardo (total cost approx. 20 Euro)

If arriving to Rome, we suggest you to take Trenitalia, the Italian train company. Trenitalia provides you high-velocity trains like Frecciabianca or Intercity with different prices and offers especially for the weekend.

We can arrange airport pick up from Bari/Brindisi for a group of ten people for 10 Euro/pax, for individual transport it is 100 Euro.

Generally, the best way to get around is to rent a car at your arriving airport or use the train. Especially in Southern Puglia- if you want to reach small villages you can take the local train. You can get more detailed information from the website of Ferrovie del Sud Est FSE

Intercity buses are another option to travel around Italy. Unfortunately they don’t depart directly from Poggiardo but from Maglie’s bus station. The tickets can be bought from travel agency which is in Umberto I square, but for each ticket you will have to pay an extra charge for service costs (nearly about 4€). For the local buses, the departure place is in front of Caffè Borghese.

During the season (end of June-beginning of September), people frequently use SalentoinBus services.

If you are more adventurous, but still like to play safe, you can use BlaBlaCar, a service getting very popular amongst the local youth or hitch-hike.
